Introduction
QuikChef (“QuikChef,” “we”) is a personal recipe notebook application developed and operated by Quikvard Studio (“Quikvard”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights as a data subject.
By using the app or creating an account, you agree to the data processing described in this policy.
Who we are / Controller
- App name: QuikChef
- Operator: Quikvard Studio
- Registered address: Istanbul, Türkiye
- Contact: admin@quikvard.com
- Firebase project:
quikvard-quikchef(Firestore region: eur3 / Europe)
Information we collect
1. Account information
When you create an account (via email/password or Google Sign-In), we collect:
- Email address
- With Google Sign-In: name and profile picture URL, as disclosed directly on Google's own OAuth consent screen (“Google will share your name, email address, and profile picture with QuikChef”).
2. User content
As the core function of the app, we store the content you enter yourself:
- Recipes you create (title, ingredients, steps, tips)
- Shopping list
- Reminders / timers you set
3. Profile and recipe cover images
Any photo you pick from your device is resized before upload and embedded directly as base64 in the corresponding Firestore document. QuikChef does not use a separate file storage service or bucket (e.g. Cloud Storage) for images — the photo lives inside the same database document as the recipe or profile it belongs to.
4. AI-assisted recipe creation
When you ask QuikChef to turn free-text recipe notes into a structured recipe (title, ingredients, steps), that text is sent via a Firebase Cloud Function to Google's Gemini API. Only the text you wrote and your language preference are sent — no other personal data (email, name, photo) is included in that request. This call uses the paid/metered API tier under a Google Cloud project with active billing; under Google's current API terms, content sent through this tier is not used to train Google's models. The raw text is not permanently retained by QuikChef after parsing — only the resulting structured recipe is saved to your account.
5. Subscription and purchase data
If you subscribe to QuikChef Pro, Google Play Billing processes your payment; we never see or store your card details. RevenueCat, our billing/entitlement backend, processes your purchase tokens and subscription status. We store a subscription record (active status, product identifier, expiration date, and how many free AI recipe imports you've used) tied to your account.
6. No analytics or advertising
QuikChef contains no third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDK. We do not track your usage behavior or build advertising profiles.
7. Permissions we do not use
QuikChef does not use your location, continuous camera/microphone access, or your contacts. expo-image-picker only accesses your photo gallery when you choose to pick an image.
How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and manage your account
- Sync your recipes, shopping list, and reminders across your devices
- Provide AI-assisted recipe parsing
- Respond to your support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your data for targeted/behavioral advertising, and we do not sell personal data to third parties.
Third parties we share data with (subprocessors)
We use the following service providers to operate QuikChef. Each receives only the data necessary to perform its function:

| Google Sign-In | Optional authentication method | Google account email/name/profile picture, via Google's own consent flow |

Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR for EU/EEA/UK users, and KVKK for Turkey), you may have the right to:
- Know whether your personal data is being processed
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data (editable directly in-app for most fields)

International data transfers
Your data is primarily stored in Europe (Firestore, eur3 region). When you use AI-assisted recipe creation, the free text you write may be transferred to Google's global infrastructure (Gemini API) for processing. Where this constitutes an international transfer, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as required under KVKK and GDPR.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above, and where appropriate, communicated in-app.
